Xavi Font Viadé, parquet and wood craftsman
Xavi Font Viadé is a wood craftsman and the managing director of Moskito Parquets. With more than 25 years of experience in the world of parquet flooring, he has made his knowledge of the material, technical precision and respect for the craft the foundation of his approach to work.
From Moskito’s showroom in Barcelona’s Gràcia neighbourhood, Xavi personally supports architecture and interior design projects in which wooden flooring plays an essential role in the design. Private homes, commercial spaces, retail and contract projects in Spain and internationally all share the same requirement: choosing the right wood and ensuring it is installed correctly.
He is a member of the Catalan Association of Parquet Industries (ACIP) and the Spanish Federation of Wooden Flooring (FEPM).
Wood as a craft
For Xavi, parquet is not simply a floor covering. Wood is a natural material that changes, ages and develops character over time. Understanding its origin, structure, stability, finish and behaviour is essential to integrating it correctly into a project.
At Moskito, this craftsman’s approach sits alongside contemporary manufacturing and installation techniques. European oak parquet, premium woods, large-format boards, herringbone, Hungarian Point, decorative panels and bespoke solutions are always considered in relation to the architecture and the actual conditions of the space.
From material to installation
An essential part of Xavi’s work is the advice provided before installation begins. Not all parquet floors respond in the same way to the same project, and there is no single installation system suitable for every situation.
The subfloor, humidity, board dimensions, construction system, type of finish and requirements of use all influence each decision. That is why, at Moskito, the work starts before the first piece is laid: by understanding the project and selecting a solution that is both aesthetically and technically coherent.
Projects with architects, interior designers and private clients
From Barcelona, Moskito works on residential, retail and contract projects in Spain and internationally. Working closely with architects and interior designers makes it possible to develop personalised solutions, from selecting tones and finishes to geometric compositions, special machining and wooden elements designed specifically for a particular space.
The aim is not to install more square metres of parquet, but to ensure that each project is properly resolved and that the wood retains its beauty and character over time.
