Restaurant Arrels in Barcelona: interior design with aged white parquet and recycled wood walls
In Barcelona, where gastronomic culture merges with the latest interior design trends, we find Arrels, a flexitarian restaurant that champions local produce, organic cuisine and an original culinary experience. The project stands out not only for its creative menu but also for an interior design that mirrors those same values through natural, aged and recycled wood, carefully selected to bring authenticity and warmth to the space.
The collaboration with Moskito Parquets has made it possible to create a unique atmosphere, where every surface tells a story and where floors and walls become an essential part of the dining experience.

A space that breathes authenticity

Walking into Arrels means immersing yourself in a universe of textures, aromas and nuances. The open kitchen allows diners to see how dishes are prepared, but it is the setting that completes the experience: a floor of aged white parquet, recycled wood walls and ceilings, and lighting that highlights every detail.
The choice of wood is no accident. In a restaurant that elevates local produce and sustainability, the interior had to convey the same values. The parquet and cladding thus become a tribute to authenticity: noble materials, full of character, with a finish that combines modernity and tradition.
The floor as a canvas: aged white parquet

The flooring is one of the star elements of the project. For Arrels, wide planks of 260×2400 mm in a smoked white tone, finished with Hardwax UV and part of the Moskito Época 1 collection, were chosen.
This aged white parquet brings brightness to the restaurant and enhances the sense of spaciousness, while introducing a patina of history through its aged effect. The long, large-format planks create visual continuity and reinforce the idea of an open space where every diner feels welcome.
The aged white wood is not only aesthetic: it is practical. The Hardwax UV finish protects the surface from intensive use, which is essential in a restaurant with high customer turnover. Durability is combined here with timeless beauty, providing the perfect setting for creative and sustainable gastronomy.
Walls and ceilings in recycled wood: history and sustainability

Contrast and harmony come with the vertical cladding. For the walls and ceiling, reclaimed wood planks of 90–240 mm, Moskito Vertical 1 model, were selected.
Wall decoration with recycled wood provides an authenticity impossible to replicate. Each plank has a different origin, with marks, veins and textures that speak of a past and now find a new life in the restaurant. This resource adds character and aligns with the ecological philosophy of the project: giving noble materials a second life while reducing environmental impact.
The recycled aged white wood ceilings also play a key role in the acoustics and atmosphere of the space. Far from being mere cladding, they help create an immersive environment, where visual warmth is complemented by acoustic comfort, indispensable in a dining space.
The value of recycled wood in interior design

Recycled wood for walls is not just a trend, it is a statement of intent. Compared to synthetic or mass-produced materials, reclaimed wood offers uniqueness and sustainability. Its irregular character, changing tones and unmistakable texture make every project one of a kind.
In Arrels, the recycled wood walls become the perfect backdrop for a gastronomy that also seeks to stand out through authenticity. Decorating walls with recycled wood means giving the space an extra layer of personality, a narrative that connects with collective memory and with a future that is more respectful of the environment.
Gastronomic interior design is going through a stage where sustainability and customer experience are at the forefront. Aged wood and recycled wood walls have become key elements in projects that aim to stand out and convey values beyond aesthetics.
In this sense, the Arrels restaurant is a perfect example: a space where every material tells a story and where the choice of parquet and cladding is not just a decorative matter but part of a greater narrative about gastronomy, territory and respect for the environment.
Interior design with gastronomic coherence

The Arrels project could not be understood without this connection between cuisine and interior design. The chefs create dishes with organic, locally sourced ingredients, while the space conveys those same values through natural and recycled materials.
The aged wood on the floor and recycled wood on walls and ceilings speak the same language as the food: closeness, authenticity, respect for origins. Thus, every detail of the restaurant reinforces the diner’s experience, who not only tastes a dish but also immerses themselves in a coherent, carefully crafted sensory universe.
